Circus Patientus

Two clowndoctors rehearse with long-term patients in various wards - oncology, child psychiatry, orthopedics - and within five days produce a circus show. They exercise little clown pieces and magic tricks, put together simple costumes or decorations, and paint invitations and posters announcing the big show. Everyone can participate. The clowns design the program depending on the capabilities and needs of the participants.

Together with the clowns the patients turn the hospital room into a stage, and at the end of the week, the show is performed before a select audience of family members, doctors and nursing staff.

In 2011 the program was extended to include geriatric institutions. Here too, the program represents a welcome change from the monotony of everyday life, and it enables the elderly to look forward to being more active.  In the RED NOSES variety performance, the elderly become the stars.  They learn their own small tricks, and can be active and creative – often discovering hidden and unimagined talents!
