After numerous years of friendly support, RED NOSES International signed a co-operation agreement in 2003 with the Czech organisation’s Director, Gary Edwards. From his humble beginnings as a one-man show, Gary has, with the help of RNI, been able to develop a truly national project in the Czech Republic.
In 2009 Czech clowndoctors made over 1,911 regular visits. Other programmes include “Circus Paciento” and humour therapy seminars for medical staff, both of which have been supported by the Czech Chapter of the United Nations organisation, the World Health Organisation (W.H.O.).
The main focus of work here for RED NOSES International lay in the selection and continuous training of clowns. In order to positively meet the growing needs of coping with the expansion of the programmes taking place throughout the whole country, Zdravotni Klaun laid emphasis on two aspects: the implementation of successful local fundraising activities which to date account for 100% of their annual budget, and secondly, the steady build up of the management team.
