The Hong Kong Children's Symphony Orchestra

was founded in 1996 by Dr. Yip Way-hong and has since ranked among the nation’s most respected musical institutions. During recruitment young musicians between the ages of seven and eighteen undergo a strict selection process at auditions.

Due to the unique and exceptional talent of the musicians, the orchestra is continuously invited to represent Hong Kong in concerts abroad.  Thus it is no surprise that they have an excellent track record of giving concerts in Thailand, USA, Canada, Singapore and Europe.  Each year renowned soloists are also invited to perform with the orchestra.

Dr. Yip Wai-hong, founder of the orchestra, began his musical training in Peking, before he immigrated to the USA where he graduated from university in Texas. After many years of training, Dr. Yip returned to Hong Kong to teach. In 1976 he then founded the PAN ASIA Symphony Orchestra, with whom he has held over 500 concerts. Part of this year’s European tour will feature one of Dr. Yip’s own numerous compositions, “Symphony in E,” which is well known in Asia.

RED NOSES clowns bring laughter and rays of hope into the hospital. With their heartfelt humour they visit sick children at their bedsides, adults in rehabilitation and the aged in geriatric homes. RED NOSES Clowndoctors International was founded in 2003. Today these specially trained clowns visit approximately 300,000 patients in Austria and in its seven partner countries – Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, Germany, Croatia and New Zealand.
