The Competence Centre is located in the headquarters of RED NOSES in Vienna.
Devoted to the conception, development and promotion of clown organisations in various countries, the overall goal of the Centre is to oversee that the aims of the RED NOSES Foundation are achieved and its strategies engineered with utmost detail and humaneness.
The Centre works towards the long-term acquisition and build-up of international knowledge management on clown work and research on “humour and health.” Know-how transfer, consulting and coaching in all areas of clown work in hospitals are made available to the partner organisations.
This invariably guarantees the highest ethical and quality standards of each and every clown visit made by each and every clown team in each and every hospital or medical facility visited by each and every RED NOSES partner organisation.
The International School of Humour (ISH) provides a variety of result-oriented training levels, each with clear objectives laid out in the ISH Guidelines. The artist navigates through a process of on-going improvement as he strives toward utilising his complete repertoire of creativity.
Empowering professional artists requires not only the right tools to manage the job, but also the right knowledge and competence. RNI provides specific training designed to fit their specific needs. The result is an effective training experience from which the individual artist emerges as a qualified RED NOSES “clowndoctor.”
Renowned international and local teachers of varied disciplines accompany the artists in courses, seminars and workshops held in the individual partner countries as well as in Austria.
In order to guarantee the reliability and continuity of its work, the Competence Centre uses various structural methods to unite the focus of the six countries, ensuring that all partner organisations strive together, applying common quality standards for clown training and management skills.
This cooperation involves good coordination, following common guidelines and implementing strict controlling and monitoring standards. The cooperation also provides a platform for the exchange of know-how and experiences between the partner organisations, as well as providing individual and joint methods for the raising of funds for the international clown programmes, artistic training and further development of the professional artists.
Each individual partner organisation develops and carries out its own concepts for fundraising. This method allows for local partners and sponsors, big and small, to fund the organisation in a manner suitable to the local region. RN organisations often receive in-kind support and resources from various corporate giving programmes together with or in lieu of monetary donations.
We welcome both forms of support!
