RNI supported COR’s work in Chile and Argentina from 2005 to 2007. In the meantime the COR's team settled down in Chile.

If you just can’t find a smile ... or a laugh ... we’ll deliver fun and laughter right to your doorstep. We understand that hardship can lead to people losing their sense of humour. That’s why we drive our clown mobile unit to areas where we feel laughter is needed most, so that we can bring good cheer back into people’s lives.

Clowns perform a task that is essential to life: they bring cheer and humour into everyday situations.

Laughter is an important social lubricant. It builds relationships, provides relief, fosters physical and mental health and promotes healing.

Laughter makes you feel good. Laughter gives you life.

Summary

“Clowns on the Road” grew out of the hospital clown project “Flotta & Company” based in Nuremberg, Germany. Flotta has been visiting children in hospitals since 1999 with the motto “Laughter is the best medicine”. 

Under the auspices of RED NOSES International, the two “Clowns on the Road”, KIKA (Bettina) and TOTO (Christian) started touring Argentina and Chile in their mobile clown van, MAMUT, in 2005.

They brought laughter to thousands of needy children in slums, orphanages and hospitals and proved that there is always a silly lining behind every murky cloud.

“We make house calls and in a playful manner communicate awareness and the realisation that misery, illness and poverty are not necessarily life debilitating situations. This harsh reality can disappear into the background, even if only for a refreshing moment, giving way to the levity of fun and play.

We can’t change the social conditions in a country, but we can give encouragement and innovative impulses inspiring new hope. Clowns ease the situation and bring happiness and cheerfulness.”
