[June 2010]
RED NOSES Clowndoctors International received notice from the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (http://eacea.ec.europa.eu) that the EU project "Performing Arts in Hospital - The Clowndoctors", which we submitted last year was successful. RNI has been awarded the EU grant.
The project is coordinated by RED NOSES Clowndoctors International, based in Vienna. In the consortium, the national RED NOSES NPOs from 6 countries (Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia) work together with art associations from further countries (Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Croatia, Italy) where there are currently no national clowndoctor organisations. They exchange experience with similar or different local artistic initiatives.
This project creates a particular opportunity to gain deeper understanding of the national and cultural specific aspects of hospital clowndoctor performances. It also helps expand the clowndoctor concept to reach new patient target groups from additional countries and from different social and cultural groups. This corresponds to transnational mobility which increasingly affects the heterogeneity of patient populations.
An important goal of the project is the development and implementation of an international training and qualification programme, involving at least 200 artists from a minimum of 7 EU countries.
The project starts on 1st October 2010.
