Donations: Deductibility of donations

We made it! On 28th December 2009 we finally received the official notification from the Inland Revenue Office Vienna 1/23 (Department of Tax Relief) that donations given to RED NOSES Clowndoctors International are now tax deductible.

It's really easy. Here's how it works:

• Make your donation to RED NOSES Clowndoctors International as usual.
• Please be sure that you write our full name RED NOSES Clowndoctors International on your receipt of payment.
• Every time you make a donation, keep your receipt of payment safely.
• When you fill out your income tax return forms, add all your donations together and put them in the column "special expenses".
• You can claim up to a maximum of 10 % of your annual income of the previous year as special expenses.
• A maximum of 10 % of your profit can be filed as running costs (operating expenditures). They are therefore tax deductible.
• Depending on the amount of your income, up to 50 % of the total amount of your donations will be refunded by the tax office.

Of course we will issue and send you an annual acknowledgement for your donations from the previous year.

IMPORTANT: Please keep the blue receipt of payment from the bank when you pay in your donation. By law, one should keep these for a minimum of 7 years.

And this is how companies can deduct their donations to RED NOSES Clowndoctors International:

• Company donations paid out of business assets are valid operating expenditures. Generally company's can also give donations in kind (e. g. their own products) and write them off as tax deductible.
• Deductibility of company donations is limited to 10 % of the profit from the previous business year.
• Deductible company donations which are used as company expenses have to be deducted within the framework of fiscal determination of profits. On demand by the Inland Revenue Office, have to be backed up with receipts.
